2-minute read
Sometimes it takes effort to remember to think about what was on our minds before thinking of what we currently think about. By this, I mean the topics that are 24/7 on our minds. It may be a big project, looking for a house, a disease, etc. I often forget what went through my mind when I didn’t have to think about platelets, hemoglobin or a complete blood count. Everything became a before and after November 8th, 2012. Ever since, the words platelets, lymphocytes and hemoglobin became part of my daily life, and I knew what they all meant.
In those moments, we realize we know nothing about this new life. It’s a road… it takes time, but then you become an expert and at least on my side, you start loving understanding what each of these words means and what is going on. A disease undoubtedly divides life in two. Sometimes we forget who we were when we did not have what we now have in life. In me lived a Juanita that did not know the battle soon awaiting, a Juanita very different from the one that would come out of the hospital, but the same Juanita that needed to live that battle to smile and be herself indeed.
For example, we all lived through Covid, and it’s good to ask us: what did we think and talk about before Covid was all we thought about?
It’s exciting and recomforting to think who we were, how we’ve changed and be proud of that person who entered the battlefield and the person we are now thanks to that.
It is also interesting to think about how much we still have yet to live, who we are today, and who we will be. It is comforting to see what we’ve done, what we’ve achieved and what the person we are today thinks. It is valuable to look back with a proud and loving view, seeing where we were and where we are, considering how life priorities have changed and what we focus our thoughts on. Today I ask you: What did you think before you were in this ‘episode’ of life? Or before a situation that split your life in half? We may even take for granted the thoughts we have today or those we had before.
Be proud of the person you are today. Reflect on what didn’t exist before but now lives constantly in your thoughts. Think about how that has transformed you into what you are today.
Your future self will be proud of seeing where you are and of yourself.

So True, Life has been split in 2 and I am so proud of the you who walks through this battlefield!!
y yo estoy orgullosa de ti! <3
